Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with NAMI Orange County

In partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Orange County Chapter (NAMI OC), the UCI Division of Continuing Education is participating in Mental Health Awareness Month to reduce the stigma of mental illness and to perpetuate a cultural of healthy living, inclusivity, and belonging.

Please join us to virtually meet NAMI OC’s Austin Messick, Associate Director of Programs and Roxanne LaMar, Innovative Projects Coordinator as they introduce you to the NAMI OC organization and present strategies to combat two of the most pressing mental health topics:

  • Myth Busting and Reducing Stigma: Debunking popular misconceptions about mental health by providing factual and accurate information on mental health basics.
  • Workplace Stress and Burnout: Identifying the signs and symptoms of workplace stress and burnout and learning coping techniques and strategies for selfcare and work/life balance.

      The mission of NAMI Orange County is to provide emotional support, education, and resources for families, and those affected by mental illness. In collaboration with the entire community, we advocate for a life of quality and dignity, one without discrimination, for all those persons affected by this illness. NAMI Orange County conducts educational programs, meetings and support groups throughout Orange County addressing every aspect of mental health at no cost to the community. NAMI Orange County is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization with a membership of over 400 and is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and NAMI California.
